Patching the gender equality data gap

There is a glaring data gap—the size of 2.9 million queer people—who remain invisible in North America. To inspire North Americans to support the UN in uncovering missing data on gender-queer individuals and achieving true gender equality, we created Trail Blazers—an initiative that fuses fashion and research to empower gender-queer people to become more visible in the workplace.

Trail Blazers raises awareness of the issue and encourages participation in an online survey that collects data from gender-queer individuals to help the UN address the gap. The patchwork design celebrates diversity and symbolizes the initiative’s mission to patch the gap.
